With one of the established Foyle Skips moving on, this opens up a coveted spot on the Foyle Team.
Who whas the potential to fill this role, the obvious choice is D Ward if he decides to play and hopefully he will but if he doesn't then who are the contenders?
Possible Contenders
The Old Hands
J Miller
A constant third at zone level and has stepped up a few times when called upon. Skips for Dupont in the league, lots of experience. Wins several tournaments a year.
K McConomy
Also a constant third at zone level and skips for Dupont.
M Fahey
Played alot of games for Foyle both as a skip and as a third, loads of experience, not played alot of bowls over the past few seasons.
Young Pups
L Brittion
The Quiet Man, Good player, loads of potential and has won a few tournaments skipping though not in rinks.
R Kincaid
Another good player with loads of potential and has won rinks tournaments skipping although considered to play some rash shots at times.
With lorenzo coming does he think he will skip?
ReplyDeleteIs his reasons for leaving north west only being a third? is that the attitude foyle need in a team player?
That last remark had to be made by a nw stirer trying to stir it up will not happen bear is here and bear will stay he has said ttfn to nw and glad to be away ha ha
ReplyDeleteIf the NW click is not worried about
ReplyDeletethe changes to the Foyle Zone why all
the petty snipping. Grow up

I have been reading the recent posts on all the bloggs and there is a lot of talk about the newcomers to Foyle, that is if they come but if they do then as someone who has played for Foyle for more years than I can remember, i welcome them with open arms, i can see why the nw/lcrfc zone are furious at the quality of the players coming mouthwatering stuff and all good for the zone, so the nw/lcrfc zone can go boil their heads and they need to ask the question why they have left, has there been many who have left foyle to go to nm/lcrfc ? i can only think of 1. Let it all go and get on with your on campain and let us get on with ours, sour grapes at their best i think.
ReplyDeletegrammar and spelling in above post is shocking, defo a derry/l'derry/foyle person. lol be smart and use a spellchecker mate.
ReplyDeletenw/lcrfc love it, now that sounds like sour grapes, as for "furious" - catch a grip they will all easily get on the foyle team but not on the nw/lcrfc hahahahaha
A great quality of players coming from the north west... 2 in my count... lorenzo and jimmy... bill was dropped and manus is only back at bowls but am sure they will get on the foyle zone...
ReplyDeleteif i was a foyle selector i would be begging eddie to stay... lets face it... what you have got in place of eddie is not up to much...
Bill holmes will not tell foyle the truth but reason he has left the north west zone is very simple, he is not good enough to play for the north west, as for the reason behind lorenzo and jimmy leaving, god knows but best of luck to the two of them in the foyle team were ever they play in the team.
Has the last sad poster ever asked why no foyle player has ever come to the north west... answer, we do not have a second team.
Best of luck.
I for one can't wait till the friendly on the 16th October.
Good to see that the good wishes continue from all arts and parts to encourage foyle on.
ReplyDeleteThe last post was no doubt from someone within the nw and I will be the first to congratulate them on their cander, albeit as far out as Kate Louge, If I was dropped from nw as you say, why then was I still selected up to the last game you played in? Maybe I am just making it up but it is still on the nw site for all to see, as for whether I am good enough for the nw team, that is a question that will never have to be answered again, the selectors at foyle know exactly what happened last year, I do not give a fig if you keep posting otherwise, you go right ahead and give it both barrells I will just sit here and laugh at the childishness of it all, you can slag and cojole all you want, I will not be back to be part of your wee team, I am happy with my move and will push on from here, the people who know the truth have supported me as they were there to witness what happened, you have no point of reference other than what you have been told, unlike you I will not be as petty as to only wish 1 or 2 all the best, I wish the entire team all the best for the in coming year and every success in the pursuit of your Boomer cup campain.
Just to finish this.... lets all move on and put the past to rest, I have... can you ?
Homer
Meant to mention, I have the guts to put my name to my posts... do you... I doubt it

Over the Last no of years, Foyle has had a great team spirit of togetherness without any bitching. Some say its because of the new young players, some say its because the likes of Eddie & Peter really tried to go around supporting every bowl every single person threw to build that support for each other.
ReplyDeleteWhilst we do welcome all our new members from N-West with both open arms and enthusiasm, I hope there will be no baggage coming along like all this nonsense we have been reading.
Results aside, Foyle has a great team spirit at present and we don't want that to change.
Good post and a very good point, I will be the first to pledge that no baggage from the past will come with me into Foyle, I am 100% committed to the zone and will be behind each member all the way, the team spirit at Foyle is one of the reasons I am going along with a lot of good friends and team members.
ReplyDeleteHeres to the Foyle future.
Homer
The nonsense on this forum is coming from other people in an attempt to stir things up i hope all the new nw players coming to foyle can be bigger than all this and play for foyle not play with foyle, there is a difference.
ReplyDeleteNW/LCRFC whats this all about??? Good luck to the lads joining foyle its your choice and quite entitled to play for whoever you wish!! as for the NORTH WEST we are going through a transitional period at the moment with our new convenor and committee! We have been drawn in a very tough half for this years competition with a trip away to the current holders.
ReplyDeleteAny friction between FOYLE and NORTH WEST is not welcome so please let sleeping dogs lay. Good luck to FOYLE this year in the chase for the boomer if NORTH WEST are not to win it it would be nice to see our neighbours do well!
Good luck to the dupont boys and foyle in the coming season.
Foyle doesnt have a great team spirit, you must be playing on a different team from me, poor team selection and poorly ran beat by awful teams in the past few seasons, at least there is selectors with some sense this year, hopefully they can pick a sensible team.
ReplyDeleteWell, the tone of the last few posts certainly seems to be more positive thankfully, and we at Foyle also would like to wish N-West all the best, and would be delighted to see them beat Mid-Ulster.
ReplyDeleteI am glad to see that this has settled and found its peak, I echo the last post in wishing the NW all the best in all their games I hope each and every single one plays their part in a successful year.

Foyle and North West always had a good relationship and this will not change, even more so now i believe that the friendship between the two zones is even stronger that ever. I wished everyone in the foyle zone the very best best of luck for the incoming season. This has been stirred up by things which happen last season which only involved one individual and it was his choice to move to the foyle zone which can only be good for him and his friends. So,roll on the friendly so friends can unite and we can enjoy a game of bowls, thats what its all about.
ReplyDeleteWhat about rolling out a Du Pont rink for Foyle in the N-West friendly? (followed by rest of team)
ReplyDeleteLorenzo, Jimmy, Manus, Billy.

These are both from Yardon TYPICAL.
I dont think that your club Faughanvale needs this kind of tripe from you malcolm. Ashamed to say that you think this is funny that in the first post you ask for a name then in the 2nd HIDE. Not only have you let Faughanvale down you have destroyed any credit that you had left in the bowls circle. Funny how you can find the computer but are unfit to play bowls! As for tickets-- WILL YOU MAKE IT THIS WEEK TO THE GAME.
Shame on you.
