NORTH WEST

Rink 1
Jordan Mullan
Victor Morrow
Martin McCann
Ryan O’Neill

The Only rink to be defeated in the semi final. Ryan will be determined to do better in the final. Jordan Mullan at lead will be playing his second game for the zone team and this will prove to be a good experience for the talented young lad. Victor Morrow has been steady this season at second and the unmistakable Martin McCann at third may prove to be the match winner in this rink. If their front three performs for Ryan then this will be a difficult rink to beat.

Rink 2
Charlie Mearns
Paul Mearns
Richard Service
Keith McCullagh

This rink was superb in the semi final with Keith McCullagh returning to top form. Father and son front end, Charlie and Paul will prove a handful for any of Foyles front ends. Richard Service playing at third has been outstanding since returning to the zone team and always performs well. Keith skipping the rink, a man of vast experience at this level and above which may prove to be decisive when the pressure of the big bowl is to be played.

Rink 3
Gerry Barr
Nigel Craig
John Devine
Danny Ward

Gerry Barr at lead, this is the perfect spot for the ex foyle man, one of the best leads in the country and will be on top of his game when playing with Danny. Nigel Craig at second, Nigel will be excited about this game and has worked hard to get into the zone team and fully deserved. John Devine at third is always a tough competitor, always gives 100% and may be essential in this rink. Danny Ward at skip, The show man has started to perform for North West and that spells danger for Foyle. Danny was inspirational in the semi final victory but will take no pleasure in beating whatever Foyle rink he comes up against. Expect fireworks from this rink and Danny to be at his best!

John Kennedy

A front end of ex Foyle men with loads of experience, both will want to be winners on the day, Colum and Charlie are both ex foyle skips and have both put in some excellent performances this season. Nigel Means at third has been on form and his partnership with John is blossoming. Rink 6

Billy Broom
Chris Wylie
Peter Lynch
Leigh Harrison

Billy Broom at Lead, Billy returned to the team in the semi final and it was as if he was not away, a fine performance from the big man. Chris Wylie at second, Chris is an exceptional talent and will be keen to impress on this stage. Peter Lynch at third, the ex Foyle man has had a lot to say and will be keen to put to the sword whatever Foyle rink he plays, a highly talented player that will want to prove a lot on the day! Leigh Harrison at skip, a big time bowler that has been at the top of his game in the past few seasons, consistently on form The current Irish International will be hard to beat with a strong rink.

FOYLE

Rink 1
Manus Doherty
Kyle Lynch
Malcolm Thompson
Terence Patton

Have won 2 of their 3 games this season. Manus Doherty has enjoyed leading in the Foyle Team since moving from North West, a solid performer that won’t be far way. Kyle Lynch will not be short of confidence going into this match, the young man has loads of talent waiting to burst onto the scene. Malcolm has upped his game this year and has been very consistent at third for Terence. The skipper has a lot of experience and is a big time player, dangerous against any rink and capable of winning big.

Rink 2
Trevor Britton
Peter Eakin
Lee Britton
Stephen Holden

This rink was superb in the semi final and returning to the type of form expected of them. Trevor Britton has been exceptional this season, the pick of the Foyle leads thus far. Peter Eakin at second brings loads of experience and keeps the young men right. At third Lee Britton has been in superb form, the quiet man has put in consistently high performances in each round. Skipping the rink is Stephen Holden who has been getting better and better each round and was in fine form against Cork. A solid unit that has not reached it full potential yet!

Rink 3
Stuart Donnell
Patsy McCallion
Bill Holmes
Joe Miller

Stuart Donnell was brought in for the Cork game and did not disappoint, he lead really well laying good foundations for the rest of the rink, the young man will be looking forward to the final and it will be a good experience for him. Patsy McCallion at second has gone about his job quietly and efficiently all season, one of the unsung heroes in the Foyle team. The Chief at third has been inspirational this season having been given the chance to play third by Foyle this year. He will be keen to deliver especially against a team that did not give him the opportunity to shine. Expect the Chief to be on the Warpath! Joe Miller at skip, Joe has put in some top notch performances this year, winning 2 of his 3 games, Joe has played some big bowls this season and delivered some excellent shots under pressure.

Rink 4
Peter Nutt
Micky Fahy
Jimmy Mullan
Lorenzo Graham

Peter Nutt at lead has a lot of experience playing zone bowls and will need to be at the top of his game for this match. Mickey Fahy at second, a Foyle stalwart and servant of many years, at second Micky is capable of turning the game in Foyles favour. Jimmy Mullan at third, the ex NW man has loads of potential and another of Foyles quiet men, expect another good performance from Jimmy. Lorenzo Graham skipping, Lornezo has moved from third to skip since joining Foyle, the Bear and the Gardiner will want to put in excellent performances against their old employers and are more than capable of a win, expect the Bear to Roar! Let’s hope we see another robotic dance………..

Rink 5
Bobby Donnell
Ronnie Donnell
Pat McSorley
Dermot McCarron

Bobby Donnell leading is capable of putting in a good performance and will be expected to deliver by Dermot. Toucher’s will be a necessity for Dermot’s game to flourish. Ronnie Donnell at second, Ronnie has had a few good zone games this season and will be up for this game, can do a lot of damage at second. Pat McSorley at third has tons of experience at this level and has gelled well with Dermot, one of the best hitters in the game I expect the jack to be in the ditch most ends in this game. Dermot McCarron at skip, Dermot is probably the most experienced Foyle player at this level, Dermot can be devastating on his day and will be up for this game.

Rink 6
Johnny Donnell
Noel Donnell
Andrew Whiskers
Mark Beattie

Johnny Donnell has progressed each season and is now a formidable zone lead, he is having his best season to date and will go into this game full of confidence. Noel Donnell at second can be explosive, Noel if on form will be a decisive factor in this game, capable of putting in a high performance. Andrew Whiskers at third is the last of the quiet men on the Foyle team, a proven track record and consistent performer at zone level. Mark Beattie at skip, more than capable and calm under pressure has put in some great performances this season and will look to continue this in the final.

  4. very disapointing news heard tonite at st finloughs is danny will not be taking part.
even mark said danny wont get pleasure beating a foyle rink if he played.this was a very reliable source who said this.danny was awesome tonite winning 17-4 and doing the damage for st filoughs aganist bobs bar.when someone who came to watch the match said "save some of thos for saturday danny was heard saying sorry friend wont be playing".both men had tea together and one left the hall very disapointed.
I myself can fully understand why danny does not wana play,he is in a no win situation.
Im sure all eyes from both sides would be on danny and he just does not need that.he also said after league is over he is finished playing again.

  8. Jesus what a load of tripe on this blog Danny should play on Saturday but anyone who believes that he is 100% behind beating foyle and basking in it need to look at themselves, Danny is 110% Foyle no doubt there, Foyle to win on sat, take that to the bank

    ReplyDelete
  9. northwest will win on sat and danny might take no pleasure in beating foyle but as everyone knows when danny steps on the mat he is there to win and the rest of his rink will give him all the encouragment he needs to see it through

Nw is your home peter but when your protector moves away next year you will be home alone and about as wanted as a hair in a sandwich my advice is for you to grow up and keep your big mouth shut you have nothing that scares anyone in foyle you are a member of a very talented squad but you are at most just making up the numbers you have a lot to loose by slabbering like that and i hope that you regret every word you have posted i will now be going on sat to watch you get whats coming.

  23. to read all the tripe written on this blog you would think it was the boomer cup final !!
pinch yourselves its the LOSERS FINAL !!
as for danny ward the sooner he goes back to derry the better the vast majority of bowlers in the north west zone will be glad to see the back of him .

    ReplyDelete
  24. I dont know who posted last comment but you are full of sh** i can tell you now nobody at northwest wants to see the back of danny and if they do its a pity as he is a talented bowler and someone i can now call my friend. If you are going to make these kind of statements then grow a set you know wot and be man enough to put your name to the post and let danny and the rest of us see how big a man you are THE HORSE!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. to anon 18feb 2011 00:19.
to say the vast majority of bowlers in nw will be glad to see the back of danny ward is a joke.
come along tomorrow and watch the most gifted player i have ever seen play for northwest and watch the support danny gets.i beleive your not nw,i think your foyle playing a great mind game and hope danny does not play.
as the horse said put your name to the post then we can really judge your opinion but guess what you could take a leaf out of dannys book and say what you say with your name to it.
your a coward and thats something we cant call danny, your faceless, something we cant call danny and your certainly not sporting something again ward has.
hope your there tomorrow and your sick with envey when you see danny help nw win, your a disgrace.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Well said Horse.. I am looking forward to the loosers cup tomorrow and I know that Danny Ward is not only wanted at NW but is a real talisman and nw would want to retain his services for as long as they can, that post is just another feeble attempt to create friction before tomorrows match so if you want to see how the 2 teams respect each other go to the meal afterwards and see how it should be done, YOU ARE NO MORE THAN A WASTE OF SPACE..

    ReplyDelete
  27. you call yourself a north west person, catch yourself on.i hope you stay at home, your a disgrace with your bitterness, goodluck danny play and win

  29. Who in their right mind would say that any team let alone a zone team that had the chance to have Danny Ward in their ranks would want to see the back of him. I for one am so glad to hear that Danny is playing for the Blues tomorrow, not only is he a terrific bowler but the person who has the ability to bring out the best in his rink and team. Danny is a true legend of the game and i know that he has many friends from Foyle and the game will not be easy for him tomorrow but 1 thing for sure is that Danny will give 110% for the NW tomorrow and hopefully for many many years to come. Good luck to North West and the 23 man team of Donegal tomorrow....

    The WElder.

  30. Just got a text that blows everything out of the water it stated that everyone wants to be like Danny... What will Ryan do? And can someone get me a bucket lol

    ReplyDelete
  31. To the person who said nw will be glad to see back of danny ward.ward is always welcome in nw,
just look at his performance in quarter and semi final.look at what the man has done in bowls, title after title.jes you must be a sad person to put that post up.go take a look in the mirror and see a twisted person.

    ReplyDelete
  32. who ever put that post up about danny is an idiot.do you not realise what you have done for foyle, big question now is will danny play.nw supporters and players were wondering if danny would be same player for us aganist foyle as he was aganist oriel, you have given danny a chance to think do we all think same way about danny,
in no way at all do we think the same danny and i will be cheering you on as i did in oriel were i beleive we had the real danny ward.

  38. Yassssssssss! Come on the North West!
Brillian game to be at. Delighted for Lisa after the stick she has taken in the last few months. Commiserations to Foyle, played some great bowls but in the end up NW were too strong!

    ReplyDelete
  39. northwest came out on top and rightly so, stronger team.atmosphere was brillant.without doubt best mat to watch was mat 2 first half.
how ward took the pressure in this game was unbeleivable, from the start the foyle players made it clear he was mr foyle no more. ward v miller.i honestly beleived danny would not play today aganist foyle.first end wards last bowl he turns a good bowl out played by joe to pick up 3 shots.after this we knew danny was up for it.game ends in a draw 7 all.9th end ward played great bowl to lay 1 were joe was lucky to get wick and take danny out, other wise danny would have won for northwest.got say folks ward was northwest through and through today.his support for nw in second half was superb.
john kennedys rink, what a display.all played well with kennedy outstanding.
keith mc culloughs rink what can we say, total class.what a performance totally destroyed mark beattie.kept the pressure on foyle all of second half.
leigh harrisons rink, peter lynch had done alot of bumming that nortwest would beat foyle, today lynchs bowls did the talking.
tbitnw defeated by terence patton.good performance by foyle rink.
ryan oneill.2defeats in a row now for ryan.ryans rink had a real bad day, good win for dermotts rink.
best moment in hall today.ward walks into hall and gets slated by foyle players to get into foyle photo, only ward could think of perfect reply,he kisses the northwest badge and hall erupts.
well done to foyle a great display but northwest too strong on the day.game played in great spirit and both team members and supporters went on to drummond hotel for a meal.
well done to the victors northwest.flash

  40. Must say yesterday was a great advert for the game. After all the crap posted on this and other blogs the atmosphere was brill especially in the first half. NW proved just to strong and deserved to win. Foyle have come a long way this year and great to see a young man like Stewart Donnell getting a chance. He had another good game from what i heard as I was playing at the time.
Thanks to everyone involved in the Zone I really enjoyed my first ever experience of Zone bowls.
Well done to all the Foyle players and again congrates to NW.

    ReplyDelete
  41. manus great post, could not have said better myself.first half atmosphere was unreal.everyone knew the first half would be good with ex foyle man danny playing.irish news even mentioned danny playing foyle.miller playing ward.total entertainment.foyle gave it to ward and ward gave it to foyle.the game was an outstanding display for bowls.
only thing dampened the day was donegals loss to northern.

    ReplyDelete
  42. never write off the northern they are simply magic when it comes to finals 7 boomers now. well done to the GREAT edwin irwin in collecting his SIXTH winners medal yesterday.

  43. Great day yesterday in every way, 48 friends went out and gave 110% for their teams and the suporters from each side made up an extra man each, congrats to Lisa and NW on a fine win yesterday and to my team mates at Foyle, you put in some effort yesterday and I am proud and glad to be counted amongst you thank you all.
Will just comment on 2 of the games from yesterday, firstly the game on mat 2 first half.. WARD V MILLER.. this was the game that you could not have paid to see, great to be involved in and by the reports from the side good to watch too, Danny was at his best and gave his all for NW in this and nobody could doubt his commitment, he played every end with desire and a will to finish it at every chance, he had his rink up for this and it showed, what a player he is and great to watch plying his trade.
Now to my club and zone team mate Joe Miller, he has showed me over the last few yers why people class him as a legend too, his never say die attitude and his ability to coax the best out of you is an absolute pleasure to be involved with, he was willy enough yesterday to stick to his game plan and it worked, well done again Joe.
Lastly I would just like to comment on the Peter Lynch saga, surfice to say that Peter did his talking on the mat yesterday playing an amazing game at 3 to Leigh, well done Peter.
I was glad to see so many going for the meal afterwards and mixing so well, great meal too by the way, great nights craic, pity about the Karaoke though, I think Nishy breathed a sigh of relief when he heard that it was not working as I was pacing up and down waiting for my chance to shine lol

  46. As a spectator and a supporter of nw i have to take my hat off to foyle as they raised their game yesterday and showed that their isn't a great deal between us. in fact the choice of shots in some ends by foyle skips was weird to say the least and things could have been tighter. A special mention to Lee Harrison who again showed just what a great player he is especially under pressure. Also terrance patton who grinded out a great win for foyle and joe miller who always seemed to have the measure of danny ward and was unlucky not to win.

    ReplyDelete
  47. bill as usual your the gentleman.game aganist joe was unreal.atmosphere was unreal.i could hear all foyle supporters roaring foyle aganist us.yes i was up for it but foyle supporters were up for me playing foyle.
dermott, marina, kathleen and nuala gave their all.i had a ball, every shot i got i looked at my son,the smile on his face was just like his dads.he said he could never let me go down to play so many friends and not be there.
for the record my son was disapointed id left foyle, sister called me a traitor, lol.
i must gave special mention to a special player,Keith McCullough,he was outstanding in zone this year and again his rink did massive damage to opposition, felt sorry for mark beattie.
finally my day was made by who else other than a good friend peter eakin.at the speeches he said i was the best in derry and now im the best in the north west.mr o neill my friend i hope you heard and to the past best in the north west robert allen i hope you took note.
goodluck foyle and i wish you every success (except when you play us NORTHWEST )in the future and if available i will be at your game.

    ReplyDelete
  48. above two posts tut tut tut.take it peter and danny will be on your xmas card list.peter give a great display,he got shot after shot with his bowl.as for joe who had a good game and no disrespect to joe he was chasing danny the whole game.danny got five chances in the game and took them all, first end danny set the hall alite.to say joe was unlucky not to win is sour grapes by you.what about wick joe got to take danny off after danny played a great bowl in the nineth end.you must not have seen joe saying he was lucky.danny should have won.

    ReplyDelete
  49. as a player on sat i can honestly say the best player we had on the day was the quiet man john kennedy he was outstanding from start to finish he played some big bowls when they were needed keith and richard also had great games and destroyed the rink of a fine player in mark beattie who was unlucky on a few occasions and joe miller had a lucky bowl in the 9th end which led to him gettin a draw but overall north west were to strong a graet days craic and a great night followed all credit to the foyle lads they did themselves proud with a big turn out at the drummond. One thing foyle needs to sort out for next year is the bears awful dancing both on the mat and off it it should come with a health warning

    ReplyDelete
  50. That is a very feeble argument and it makes me sick to the bone to think that after the dust settled in our game, regardless of who did what and when, if you were to ask both skips then they most likely would have settled for a draw as a good reflection of the game, as for the wick by Joe, well yes it does sicken you when it happens against you but if the shoe was on the other foot and you got that wick would you be sporting enough not to take the shot ? Talk with sense, I am a great believer that if you are coming into a head with enough weight to push you through then anything can happen, and it did, afterall that was the shot Joe was playing, thanks for the post Danny it was a pleasure -playing against you, and with my wife watching me too I could not afford to loose or I never would have heard the end of it.
So lets put this wick business to bed once and for all, Danny never complained about it so why should you. And to say that we chased the game is a nonesense, we had it there to win in the last end but could not do it, I have not enjoyed a game as much in a long long time, Danny not only brings the best out in his rink but also the other rink as well.
At the end of the day it was the Joe and Danny show and it was good to play a part in it.

  51. I absolutely loved Saturday, I thought the atmosphere was brilliant and taken in great spirit, with some great moments,They should organise this for once a year, with dinner afterwards, after all the two zones have lots of friends in them. Where else would you get such entertainment for free,It certainly gave you the feelgood factor and after all that is what it is really about

    ReplyDelete
  52. Have to agree with the chief,Danny did not complain with the draw,i think Joe's rink were outstanding special word for young Stewart Donnell, what pressure for the young lad but he was so cool.Whoever was drew against Danny that was going to be the hardest game mentally to play and i think a draw was a great result for Joe in that game.Overall there was not much in the game the better team won on the day, great spirit from both teams and banter was good even before the game. There has been a lot said on this blog before the game but i think the players showed what respect they have for each other on the mat and then joining together after the game. The one big winner Bowls.

  53. JUST WANT TO SAY THANKYOU TO DANNY WARD everyone knows it was the danny ward show.can anyone tell me another player who draws such attention in bowls.i think he is playing twenty odd years and still its ward ward ward.he took six or seven years out, came back to nw league and i bet he never imagined he would end in final playing foyle.ryan oneill saw a great opportunity and got danny on board to play, put his name in for selection on nw team.take a bow ryan great decision for nw.i have no idea how ward took the pressure from foyle fans, they were great.one end danny took bowl of and next bowl played a plant to take a good bowl by joe off.i know danny has his faults but he proved me wrong when i really got to know him and itold him that.on the mat he is a **** but of the mat he is a gentleman.last words danny,i think your a better team player(even leigh told you that) than you are a player and your some bloody player, maybe the best i ever saw or certainly one of the best.
thanks for given it all for nw,never thought you would and i told you that as you know.j.
i think above post is a super idea as the day was brillant and id love it every year.to both teams thankyou for a wonderful game and to both sets of supporters thankyou for a great atmosphere.j

  54. Great game and a superb advert and it was nice to see both teams afterwards in the Drummond Hotel mixing together like that and that bowls was the real talking point and the winner on the day.
Highlight for myself was Joe Miller and Danny (Irish News) Ward battle on the 1st half and a draw was a fair outcome.

Dermott mccarron rink did really well beating ryan. Great to see foyle introducing few young people both on mens and ladies teams.

I dont quite know how to put this without being condescending to you j but to say Ryan deserves applause for having the foresight to put Dannys name forward for selection for the zone, that decision is the no brainer to end them all and i consider myself to be good friends with both of them, its a bit like asking if Tiger Woods can join your local golf club but what Ryan and co need a pat on the back for is for talking Danny into playing zone bowls at all, that is where the magic is

  57. The cutting edge question is when are the North West going to come in for me and get me out of retirement to play zone bowls again....ohhhhh how i would love to get one over on that Joe Miller!!!!!...lol

  58. It wasnt much of a problem for me to get Danny back into zone bowls, thats were he belongs, we had a good chat and certain things were discussed and certain things will be kept between the both of us.

The decision was made back in september and if i can do a little to help the north west zone then i will as am sure all zone players will do within their respected zones.

I look forward to play with Danny next year in the north west zone team.

    Ryan O'Neill

  60. would just like to clear 3points up.
firstly my celebrations,my celebrations where directed at my son who is called johnny for short.can asure you it was not johnny donnell.
jd and some other people thought it was directed at johnny donnell, not true.

second point.yes joe got a wick in 9th end and i did say to joe did you think you missed,he said yes,i also thought he had missed it,i wont say what i said under my breath,it sounded a bit like duck that.we would have been 8-5 up playing last end.draw was a good result for joe and i.

last point.colum curran got me to play bowls this year and many times i said duck you to colum.ryan oneill was the man behind me playing zone bowls this year.ryan and i had a chat and yes some things will remain private.ryan did what any good zone member would do for his zone.
so thankyou ryan for a great semi final and final and maybe next year we will have great fun as well.

ps i would just like to say i received great support from the gentleman from the northwest as i call him, martin mc cann.what a good friend he has been this year.just wish he had have turned up on saturday.sorry friend could not resist.

  61. if foyle had done their homework right danny and co would have played for foyle.danny gave it all on saturday as he is a team player.
he will come back to foyle.ward should join the selectors and the foyle team will go from strength to strength

    ReplyDelete
  62. think there was more to danny joining nw than ryan. were did he get the idea from?

    ReplyDelete
  63. It is great that Ryan's approach to Danny in September has now reaped its reward for NW. Danny a gentleman off the mat but his competitive nature on the mat does not always go down well. I for one am so glad to see Danny back playing league and zone bowls and will always have the upmost respect for him.

Danny will be wearing the blue of North West for years to come and hopefully his driving force can reap rewards with the juniors that Ryan is involved with. Great to see Danny at the Juniors on Friday night.

  64. everyone knows if you take the competitive edge off danny(irish news)ward he never would have been so successful in bowls.yes he has lost his appetite in tournaments as can be clearly seen but put danny in a team event and it is clear to be seen his appetite returns.saturday proved that.i honestly hope danny comes back to foyle.
dont know if anyone else noticed, dannys and junes last conversation in the hall on saturday was with each other in a corner.maybe the ast was put to sleep and we see danny back at foyle next year as a selector and following year on foyle zone team.thanks danny for the entertainment on saturday.cant beleive u kissed that flippin badge but it was a great responce to our players.take care big lad

  65. why dont you ask ed curran - hes the deal maker from what i hear

    ReplyDelete
  66. well i wish you had put your name to post because your right.eddie did put the idea in ryans head but it was ryan who went to st finloughs and ask danny would he be interested in playing for nw.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Great to hear from our northwest freinds but i think this blog should be about foyle bowls why not start a proper northwest blog this time instead of having to read a foyle blog.

    ReplyDelete
  68. who cares who he played for,he will be back to foyle next year.shield victory is now history.
    we look to future now.

  69. Anyone writing a match report from Saturday?

  71. lol above post correct.hall was packed and like all thos there you should have come along.wish foyle and nw played every year.it was fantastic atmosphere, what bout danny irish news ward kissing northwest badge, biggest cheer of the day, traitor, lol.next year he will be kissing foyle badge on his chest.

  72. That wont happen with the new rule not only is he not eligable for selection for Foyle next year but he would have to play his nationals next year to get into Foyle for following year, you can sort of see the sense in the rule but it will not help Foyle in their task of getting the prodical son home again, yes he kissed the badge on Sat but did he mean it i dont think so he is foyle through and through both him and Barr looked like fish out of water on Sat, change the rule and get him back asap, he is the only man who could honestly put the correct 24 out for the game and play them where they should be.
His game with Joe in the first half was a real treat to watch and i focused so much on watching that game that the 2 others might as well not been there, sorry to all involved, from start to finish this was a real needle match with the 2 skips knowing each others game so well it was more like a game of chess, Ward playing long jacks and getting his rink to push up and put it in the ditch and Miller playing short jacks and trying to build heads, compulsive viewing and i think a draw was a fair result because both sides had their chances to win the game but just could not do it.At the end of the day they simply cancelled each other out.
Overall I would say that NW looked very strong and confident, Foyle are not that far away from hitting the ground running, a bit of fettling here and there and things should change.

  73. super post above.everyone knows danny is the best if not one of the best rink skips ever, his record speaks for itself.joes tactics were great.joe knew short jack was crucial and it paid off.danny back line play was superb.took jack on ditch line for 3.took bowl of and played plant to get 2 on back line.9th end danny plays super bowl to lay 1.every other end joe had danny taken out of game.joes tactics were 100% right.like above post this is what bowls are about, not bitching and huffin and puffin

  74. I dont see danny coming back. Especially with the rules stated above. Great to see the young people gettin a chance stuart donnell playin in mens and Nicola coming into the ladies team. Its the young people who are the future of the zone so great to see them gettin chances to lead and hopefully move up positions in few years time.

    ReplyDelete
  75. played in du punt game tonite and yes as things turned out joe drew danny irish news ward.danny was in awesome form.saw ward play a wonder bowl which only ward can do.as everyone knows no one plays weight way ward can.joe lay 3shot and ward took the 3 out.bill holmes face was priceless.you could see the tension was still there from saturday.joes rink played well but dannys drawing and hitting was on form tonite.
lynch you were awful, ward carried you,lol
could not resist that dig, game ended 14-9 to ward.

  76. great post above it is the young people that are the future take the wining side from 97 for example how many good young bowlers we had there johnny moore stevie mc phillips troy deeny johnny lynch all great bowlers put them with the likes of danny jaz dermot paddy column joe eddie and you got yourself a hell of a team hence the victory in 97 i know it was a long time ago(and i have been around a while) but i think that was one of the best foyle sides ever and i know people say it was the team danny built but who cares get him back and working with the young ones again because to the best of my knowledge those young boys are no longer in the game and if they had of came through the foyle ranks they could still be great players for us i never got the chance to play zone bowls but its great to see the young ones getting there chance like young stuart and playing well like the young boys did in 97.

  77. Just realised that i put my comment about last nights game under foyle wins shield, sorry, but would agree with above dannys bowl to turn that head was fantastic and im sure my face was a picture, would not go as far as to say that peter had a bad game i think we both were lacking after saturday, no excuses

    ReplyDelete
  78. Glad to see people realise that the future is with bringing on young players,Peter Eakin has been working at this for years and with little help from other senior players.as a young player it would have been good to see senior zone players take an interest.

    ReplyDelete
  79. funny to say only other person at juniors game in ballymoney was danny ward and i someone who had no one playing in it.why does danny and peter not get together and run the team, dannys coaching would be the icing on the cake.
goodluck peter hope you all win juniors

  80. bill i was there and danny gave me great support in first half.as far as i know he was man with charlie behind decision to put team out the way we did,we should have had 5points but thats bowls.in my opinion i have never seen such a player as danny, yes an outstanding bowler but as a team man and clubman unreal.
i heard alot about zone game on saturday between joe and danny, whats odds would have been offered for a rematch.
bill as for dannys performance it was just danny at his best.as for that bowl bill i could not beleive it,only word was sheer brillance.
i did not think it was possible but of course im not ward.the weight he can play baffles me.
i looked at the oppositions faces, they could not beleive it.barr and lynch were not that surprised as they know dannys capabilities.
for st finloughs this is a fantastic result which should keep us up.jk

  82. away working all week and just back.yes zone game with joe and danny was good, maybe good is an under statement.when i was leaving the hall i said i bet the two meet again in league match next week and it will carry on from today.
danny iscapabe of beating anyone if he is up for it and i bet he needed no pick me ups for league match.by reports was close at start and the then cometh the hour cometh the man, ward who else.great to see bill give credit were credit is due, would love to have seen your face bill when danny took three bowls out.ward can be so quiet in a game and then comes a flash of brillance.after the flash in many occasions the games is won and fair play to bill he said this changed the game.bill just for record he dd the same to me in league match.
what a breath of fresh air ward has been to league
this season and be pity if he does not give league and zone another season
