At this point the pressure was high and the atmosphere was electric.
Foyle responded and the final scores were:

Overall a good team performance with some notable performances by T Britton, S Holden, S Donnell, J Miller and J Mullan.
Good first half,i heard joe millar played the shot of the match with 7 against him to cut it to 2,also heard holdons rink played very well against one of corks best skips.Great to have 3 first half rinks with good wins.2 nd half must have had a wake up call to hold on for the win.Hope to get to final should be a good game.

ReplyDeleteWell done to all on Saturday and yes the front ends deserve as much if not more praise than the skips, this is a team game and every man played his part to get us over the line, Stewart had a stormer leading on our rink playing for the first time, what a performance from the young man, confident and deadly, as for Joe Miller, well he is a star every end and a delight to play with, he threw that last bowl as if he was lying 7 and drawing for 8, great to see Stephen's rink winning so well, they have all played very well and this will boost their confidence.

there are 47 other players playing and some people seem to think all eyes will be on danny.
it will be the strangest thing i will have ever seen in bowls if i see danny playing aganist FOYLE as everyone knows he was mr foyle for years.the year we won danny put his heart and soul into it.
personally i cant see danny playing and i understand that but i know one thing,he will never be able to stay away from watching the final and it will be sad to see him on side lines.
as for the game itself i think foyles name is written on trophy.as for practice match in cumber that is now history and i think foyle will avenge that defeat.hope we have great game and great atmosphere.
ps as a bowler id like to see you play danny but as an opponent id rather you didnt.lol

ReplyDeleteWhich is so much better now that its against our old friends from the NW, everyone am sure cant wait and i hope the final will be played in a big hall,am sure there will be a hugh crowd there to support both teams.
The key between the two teams is i feel Foyles frist half front ends are alot stronger than foyles 2nd half front ends... other than that i feel foyle have a great chance on winning.
ps; i think danny should play.

ReplyDeleteGreat to see Foyle back in a final after a few not so good years hope everybody plays well and hope you can rekindle the team spirit and mate ship from 97 which got us over the line.Seems so long ago now but here's hoping we can come away with a good result I will be tuning in with great interest its also great to see some of my old team mates from 97 still holding down there spots good on ye boys and good luck.

ReplyDeleteto above post 02:09 i agree and disagree with your post every team needs a leader and danny was our's but to say he was the man behind the result is maybe wrong because every leader in any situation needs a good team behind them and we were a good team. Danny and the selectors picked the team that they knew could win it with the mix of youth and experience and not what was politically correct at that time which was wanted by our convenor.Danny also installed the spirit in the team and did a lot more of the mat that what most people will ever know.When we went to england then everything changed,danny didnt get his own way hence the results but it was out of his hands.As for the boys who have gone to nw what can i say with june in charge you are only lucky its not more.Anyway bottom line is its a final and anybody can win best of luck to both teams

no seriously,zone convenor we had that year was very easy for me to work with,the late cecil mc clure.cecil wanted to win the boomer and he was very proud as we all know when we win it,he did men and ladies double that year.
we win because we had team spirit that year and everyone was up for it and played as a team.
without 24 players you cant win boomer or plate final.every player that year worked with the selector and to be honest peter eakin put alot of work into the team and peter and i worked well together and had same ideas.
no doubt peter will ring me as i will ring him for advice on final on 19th.

ReplyDeleteThanks Danny as you know i always wore my heart on my sleeve (it nearly cost me my place on the team haha)but in all seriousness i wasnt speaking ill of the late cecil when i say politically correct i wasnt talking about the uproar of having 11 galliagh players on the team that year and the fact that you as a selector stood your ground and had us there cause in your opinion that was the best side.

The only thing lynch has showed is that he goes with Danny and feeds off the scraps yes ward and barr would stroll back onto the foyle team but lynch would have to step up a gear or 2 as he is nothing to write home about at the moment why not admit it peter without danny you are nothing.

phillip it is only a bit of banter with most people.the fact that danny,colm,peter and gerry play for northwest adds a bit of spice.i dont beleive danny will play and that will bring peter down a bit.

rugby club,du punt and vale players are main culprits.some is serious and some is fun.
this week things will really heat up and after game everyone will still be friends but one team will have massive bragging right and hopefully it will be foyle.
Not to sure what way to take the last post as it says that du pont are stirring, maybe a bit of banter yes but not stirring, looking forward to Saturday now and hope that the game will win in the end, most of us from both sides are going for a meal together afterwards and it should be colourful.
