Mens team couple of changes look good, see mal thompson back should help that rink. Its all what happens on the day and if everyone plays as they can should be a close game.
ReplyDeleteFew changes have made the team stronger. Well done selectors hope the men are coming to watch the ladies match!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThere are some changes but not enough to beat a strong north down team and it could go horribly wrong on the day i hope i am wrong but we will have to see.
ReplyDeleteWhy ? are all the ladies coming to watch the men!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhere are we going in the bus? kellys.
ReplyDeleteHow have the changes made the team stronger and what do we expect from the team lets hope its a win but the team is so predictable not much work done from the last game but it ended in a win so this one needs the same
ReplyDeleteYes the woman are always at mens match!!!!!
ReplyDeleteW donnell should be on team and both the Fahys as well then it would be a stronger team and where is lynch he should be on to
ReplyDeleteDo the talking on the mat! The chosen team will do all they can to win. Everyone can have bad days so its all on the day rather than saying he should be here or wherever
ReplyDeletei think there will be a big line up at agm this year as there are so many experts with a view, were are you all when looking for selectors. The team is picked i guess the selectors have there reasons why any player is on or not so let them get on with it.
ReplyDeleteWe all have to go along with the selections and it is right that to many are happy to critisise but do nothing to help, the team is selected and it is now over to both teams to prove there selections
ReplyDeleteFor all those people thinking they know best, come to agm and put yourselves forward as a selector and if you are not happy that you aren't on the team then write a letter to the convenor.
ReplyDeleteHAVE EVERY CONFIDENCE THAT THIS TEAM CAN BEAT NORTH DOWN! DONT KNOW WHAT WE ARE UPSET ABOUT LOOK AT THE NORTH WEST TEAM! NOW THEY HAVE PROBLEMS ESPECIALLY WITH MID ULSTER VISITING THEM! COME ON FOYLE!
ReplyDeleteThe selectors can only work with what they have in front of them abd that narrows the choice that they can make and allowing all that then they have put what they believe is the best 24 players and playing in the right place so there you go, team picked and no second thoughts or doubts or is there
ReplyDeleteWhere is Peter Lynch, he should be back on the team
ReplyDeleteI overheard a conversation last week that Lynch and hus buddies will be in Donegal next year
ReplyDeletefoyle only ever had 1 selector an that was danny ward.he had the knowledge of players an what players could do and were to play in rinks.
ReplyDeletethe 2 fahys an peter lynch should be on the team.
selectors need to take a hard look at themselves.
need to listen to the skips who played in cork, they are the men who know how the rinks played.sorry selectors not good enough.
What happened to Lynch is a disgrace he didnt go to Cork because his daughter was in hospital and then to be left out of thus team is a joke, why was he not put straight back in, we need some answers as this zone is going in a bad direction if this sort of thing contunues
ReplyDeleteWell done lynn getting picked for ireland a team
ReplyDeleteHardly think they will go there better chance of seeing them back in the blue tops again
ReplyDeleteSince the change at the start of the year there have been a lot of changes made some good and some not so good we all new that changes needed to be made after the disgrace at Meath but just moving things about is not the answer a bit of ground work needs to be done and the team stripped back to basics, look at what works and what does not work there is no easy answer but one needs to be found and quickly so instead of just mouthing off and crying now is the time to show that you can make a difference so i put a challenge to any of you that think you know what you are talking about and that us to name a team, in positional order and give your reasons for it, should make good reading
ReplyDeleteLynch and his buddies would not even make the Donegal bench. Beattie about the only man they would want in Donegal.
ReplyDeleteWhat ever about Mickey Fahy being good enough J.P is not. Does he even play tournaments?!
ReplyDeleteward and lynch will never wear blue tops again.
ReplyDeleteif ward was available he be on.
lynch treatment by selectors is a disgrace,if no changes had been made it be different story but to put malcolm an peter eakin bac on is unreal an leave lynch off
Why give the selectors that picked team abuse, two of the selectors as far as i hear did not turn up at meeting so that does not help. Also as far as am told jp is not able to play on saturdays,i agree micky should be on the team. When talking about peter lynch some of the skips you talk about were not to happy he was even on the team for cork.
ReplyDeleteIf we go on and beat North Down and i hope we do, we will need to put the silliness behind us and concentrate on the task, we have the players but year after year we ignore people for personal reasons, or at least that is what it looks like, why do we continue to let this happen, best team should be out at all times if we want to compete, the team could pick itself nearly but still the egos tend to place themselves above others and the team looses strength.Lynch should just turn his back and walk away, he will never get back onto the team, and it is not his fault, i am not a big fan of his style of playing but he is the sort of talent we need and cant do without, the reasons for not picking him are wide and varied but if you look or listen to any of them then there are half a dozen on the team that have done the same and where not punished so why him, you are ruining this team.
ReplyDeleteI think there should be a new selection commitee next year.with people like joe miller, beattie, bill as well least he speaks his mind.I cant believe lynch hasnt been selected his daughter and father where very ill and he couldnt make it.I dont think the ladies should have any input in the mens they havnt a clue.
ReplyDeleteTo the last post, it will be just the same if they were selectors but they never will get the chance because they have an opinion and are straight shooters this is dis couraged at all costs, last year Ward offered his service but the door was slammed in his face
ReplyDeletebeattie is a selector
ReplyDeletelet`s see who all turns up at agm to be picked as selectors next year
Ask joe miller he will tell you he was put forward last year and declined, mark has been unable to go to the two meetings so far and why would you want an import like bill.Get a grip and get real there will never be a team picked that will please everybody stop crying and get on with it.
ReplyDeleteWe need more than a change of selectors, we need talent
ReplyDeleteWe need EDDIE and DANNY back... SOS....
ReplyDeleteJoe turned it down because he did not have time but it will be a different story this year we all hope, mark and peter are the 2 selectors that have what it takes to do it and should stay but who should be with them, there is no point in putting names forward unless the people want to do it and if billy holmes or joe miller or anyone else wants to do it then let them and get the selectors to select there own team men for men and women for women
ReplyDeletewhoever is posting get your facts right, until this year danny ward was a northwest player so why would he have a say,i know he would have chats and give opinons with mark beattie and peter eakin and that was always useful but you cant play for one zone and pick a team in another.
ReplyDeleteHappy Christmas to all bowlers from your earwigging friend
ReplyDeleteYou've dropped the talent by putting lynch off ur team it will come bac and hunt you. There's only 1 third worth talking bout the rest are not even in the same league as lynch
ReplyDeleteWho's the 3rd that's worth talking about
ReplyDeleteWard will never be back and eddie is happy with his new neck colour but we need to get the hole team sorted and put this buddy buddy business to bed once and for all, Lynch should be on the team and i would love to hear the reason why he is not it would need to be concrete as we have pushed a great player away, just look at what he did to us in the plate final a few years ago, can we do without that sort of talent well its obvious that the selectors think that we are too strong as we stand so nothing can stop us now.LAUGH OUT LOUD!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWard back in a gallop if asked, and Eddie getting slaughetered on donegal blog for losing his 1st game in two and half years (according to fred), both ripe for recruitment back to the beloved yellow of foyle. C,mon boys, go get em!!!
ReplyDeleteLAUGH OUT LOAD how sad you sound!!!! I remember Lynch kissing he's NORTH WEST T-SHIRT against foyle in that final. Foyle Zone doesnt need people on here being spiteful toward selectors or any other member of the team you dont like it go and see what other zone team you would get on. And am telling you now NONE. So hears to all the people who what to play for FOYLE Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteReading all these messages left am a nw player just looking at Foyle team can't understand the picks. There's only one good third that's mc sorley in my eyes.Young lynch not being selected is shocking. He played his last game for Foyle I've been told.NW ladies team would beat that men's 5 terrible thirds
ReplyDeleteTo above post who would be your thirds
DeleteThis blog should be closed because only certain comments get on!!!!!! Il say it again LAUGH OUT LOAD how sad you sound, play your bowls and shut up. Just a throught for the boys who are crying what other Zone team would you start on??
ReplyDeleteI'll hold my hands up I kissed NW badge that was for June mclure not the rest.Theres one thing for sure I won't be kissing a Foyle badge again.I've more things to worry bout in my life worrying bout foyle. If the players like danny, eddie, jonny Moore jaz mc carron, where still playing for Foyle it would be worth it. Least am putting my name to this.BUT I DO WISH FOYLE ALL THE BEST .PETER LYNCH
ReplyDeletejust remember too that the legend Ward also was seen kissing the blue shirt and most would want him back on so still LAUGH OUT LOUD only at you instead.
ReplyDeleteFunny some of those thirds show you north ewst guys a thing ot two in your league, blog on your own zone.
ReplyDeleteVery disappointing to read the tone of this thread. Seems much has changed in my few years away, bring back June.
ReplyDeleteWhat about ladies team? Is there chance of winning on sat or what uses all predicting
ReplyDeleteLadies win. Only teams to get beat were lynn and valerie. Well done girls
ReplyDeleteAn outside chance of a Foyle v North West final. Massive wins for both yesterday. Well done/
ReplyDeleteA better chance of an Oriel Armagh final id say
ReplyDeleteHas anyone seen the nw team
ReplyDeleteyes not a bad team put out by the northwest! All the best to NW from foyle!
ReplyDeleteJust seen in the paper the Britton brothers won the tournament in Magheramason. A very well done in my opinion, cant believe they were getting slated on this blog, two great fellas, truely deserved.
ReplyDeleteNothing about saturdays defeat that tells a tale
ReplyDeleteYip u was rite foyle as usual not good enough will never get an easier draw miles short of the big boys
ReplyDeleteThe silence is deafening
ReplyDeleteThe team spirit is gone and if we dont support as a team how can we win as one
ReplyDeleteladirs beat in semi-final losing rinks in the paper were jean lindsay sarah johnston and valerie witherow
ReplyDeleteIf want to go far this lay out would help a lot!

Any body that knows anything about bowls will know that is a pretty strong team! And a few off them players where there watching the foyle match so hopefully they will be avaibale to play!
That is not a dream team it is a nightmare, we sll can forget the Danny Ward comeback, so put that to bed and so Gerry Barr wil be off as well, Peter Lynch will not be on the Foyle team again, this year saw to that, Colum Curran is not a zone player at any level, Patton down to third is a joke and where are the Fahy's we need change not shock maybe a new selection panel to start with, no current selectors all new, this would bring in new ideas rather than draging old opinions and petty views to the table, men pick men, women pick women, we all need to be at the AGM it should be interesting this year
ReplyDeleteAny body who watched last Match would never put Bill Holmes a third because he had a terrible game , not a third , at best a two
ReplyDeleteWhere is young Nixon , he played great bowls in all his games, I would drop Holmes ,not good enough for a third
ReplyDeleteDanny ward not good enough for skip anymore, can't live in the past , good enough to make team but not skip , and B Homes not good enough for third , even if he thinks he is , he had a bad game last match, young Kincaid another player who didn't play well
ReplyDeleteHa ha ha very good Bill , moving yourself up to third
ReplyDeleteNixon played well in cork he wasn't too hot against down?

That is a team that will do the business all day for you and not a mention of people that may be back or not some of the players are on the last few games anyway and will be getting the elbow sooner or later as we have the happy wanderer Mark Doherty coming back next year to say he is playing and then leave after a while just like he always did.
i honestly cant see who is going to come in to pick the teams any better?? bill holmes was the pain in the side thisyear we all know that, i beleive that he should be knowhere near the foyle zone team in any way. And if he was alot of good people would leave the zone, which i wouldnt want to see.
ReplyDeleteIts time that sites like this are all closed down before something is said that ends up in a court and t leaves the door wide open to every one to have a go at people that try there best to select the teams and those that go out and give it a hundred percent and it should be down to the team and not what people say on the likes of this site it can cause friction and resentment and should not be allowed, I don't know who runs the site but I urge you to do the right thing and close it now before you get dragged in as well
ReplyDeleteU have put nixon in twice and the brittons aren't good enough to skip at zone level. Fahys should not be on team. Kyle as a 3 you must be joking and joe miller is a skip not a 3!
ReplyDeleteMy teams would be 1 ryan, duffy, bill, joe. Rink 2 neil, kyle, doherty, jimmy. Rink 3 stuart, peter, mcsorley, terance rink 4 kincaid, noel, lee, dermott. Rink 5 holden, trevor, malcolm, lorenzo rink 6 moore, ronnie, jonny, mark. Mayb not matched properly but those guys have to be on the teams in those positions!
Not one of u could pick an argument let alone a zone team and I have to laugh at the comments about who should be with what rink homes was very outspoken this year and maybe should have been dropped after his huff before the cork game but he was kept on and went and played and like ll the team he played well I am no buddy of his but if you want him off the team the best way is to put your name up as a selector and have the say and it opens a box of worms about do we need players like him on the team well my views I will keep to myself on that one but the zone has a lot to answer for with what they did to those that made the trip to cork and then they got dropped for the home game that is not the way and I don't blame the selectors on their own the whole zone are accountable for that as we all stood and let it happen this is a site to promote the game in the foyle zone so why do we just use it as a platform to slag people off and show no respect for the team or the game for years we have been a happy enough team content to go out and enjoy the game, compete and try but when it went wrong we just got on with it and accepted it, what we need to face is that without the right pieces we will just be doing this over and over again just look at the north west team this year they are not the strongest but they get behind the team and the positive vibes are felt and the team had a great year against the odds, so come on foyle this year has gone so let's look to next year and start with a clean slate:-) :-) :-)
ReplyDeleteThere is so much rubbish on here, what was wrong with foyle team this year was there were to many people back sniping and no team spirit,do we want to end up like northwest, dont think so.At the start of the season we need to get the team together and give the players a chance to play together and rebuild team spirit, players who want to complain and try to bring team down, move on.We might never be Zone hotshots but we always had team spirit.
ReplyDeleteI’m a foyle bowler but I have yet to put my name forward to play in the zone despite my belief that I have the ability to beat any bowler that this zone has to offer on a one off basis.
ReplyDeleteFoyle has very few great bowlers; it has many good bowlers who have the potential to create a solid team and if, by some miracle that team ever played with unified purpose, they would give any opposition a run for their money.
The zone has too many bowlers who think they are great, too many who rely on past glories and too many with a stinking attitude. The zone is very closed minded and afraid of change and when change is suggested its shot down with talk about the good old days.
Some of the criticism on here has been a bit harsh pointing the finger at specific bowlers behind the safety of ‘Anonymous’. I cannot understand why people seem so bitter and resentful towards other bowlers when any bowler can have a bad game or even several. So much for team spirit.
Foyle is failing bowls in general so grow up foyle and give your ‘bowls’ a good shake or standby and watch as you self destruct.
PS This blog is just a platform for discussion so don’t blame it for the manner in which people chose to conduct themselves – blame those with the stinking attitudes who like to bitch and back snipe.
Mark Doherty will not be back on the zone next year i think he would not play on saturday and that rules him out.
ReplyDeleteTeams need few practice matches before zone matches together so they can team build. Even the best hve bad days so stop slagging individual players. Let's get this team spirit back :)
ReplyDeleteMark doherty will b available next year and be a good addition to the team. If ur a good bowler why not put ur name forward for selection?? Also hear jean and victor morrow will be available next year
ReplyDelete29th Jan@ 18:58 you put more valid points accross in a few paragraphs than most have since the start of this blog and I only wish you would come forward and get yourself onto the team, we need positive thinkers who have the courage to stand up to those who constantly ignore the need for positive and progressive change and we all know that it is not only wanted but needed, one or two players having an off day should not effect the team as a unit be the blame sits with them and it is wrong, what we need are the type of player that can pick up on the signs that a player or a rink are not getting into a game and start encouraging them and not just heap praise on those on top, but that needs done as well, so what I am trying to say is that we need passion and people who pull the shirt on for the right reason, to go out and give yiur all for the ten ends and then to push your team mates on as well, praise only, no negative remarks that is useless and achieves only resentment, we should try it to see how far we get, all else has failed what have we to loose
ReplyDeleteWhy has foyle finest not been updated since magheramason,do some people not like how it reads.
ReplyDeletewho is top of foyle finest anyway.
ReplyDeleteWho r the selectors
ReplyDeleteThere needs to be changes in the ladies team as well with one of the skips loosing all 3 games this year that needs to be sorted out it is time for the likes of Nichola Brown to move up the rink
ReplyDeleteI agree ladies needs couple of changes, nicola is still young gaining experience at zone level and will be a good skip in a few years time. Possibly jean morrow will be foyle next year will be a good third. Plenty of lady bowlers just need put name forward for zone
ReplyDeleteYes Jean will bring a lot of evperience to the team and Victor will be a welcome addition to the mens team we need new blood and i agree with the post that say that the whole spirit has gone from the team and it needs to be re juvenated but how can we do that, well first we get shot of the negative element associated with the team and show that the selection can be fair and on merit i am not having a go at the present selectors because they have had to work with what the have so maybe its time to look to the future of the game and give the youth a chance because it is obvious that the current squad fall short of the mark
ReplyDeleteGlen parish this week..another chance for foyle finest points ;) anybody know when national finals are
ReplyDeleteThe selectors are trevor britton, mark, jonny donnell and peter eakin. Ladies is lynn, valerie, jean, edith
ReplyDelete3 feb. 21.51 "nicola is still young gaining experience at zone level" get a grip, If she is good enough now put her in at skip, that's were you gain experience
ReplyDeleteShe isn't quite ready to skip yet I said in a few years time..ability is defo there :) roll on next year boys hopefully go a step further!!
ReplyDeleteYeah its time for the young blood to get a chance, sure north down beat us they Had young players playing back end bowls! Donegal even have a few young player playing back end , and some off foyle young guns would be better players than them! What's the worst than can happen? The current teams and player postions ain't working time to mix it up.
ReplyDeleteThat is just what is wrong with the game people saying he/she is not ready yet but i bet they think they are, its annoying to see this happening when most of them dont see the flaws in there own game and if you tell them then you get told where to go and to turn the other point, the nebs team was given a mix this year and it did not work we should look at it like a cake recepie all the ingredients are there but what we need now is a method and this will tell us the order that things should be in, no need for change and there never was we need to concentrate and focus
ReplyDeleteif you look at the ladies 1st game nicola browne was a 3rd but she didn't want to do it maybe she will in a few years time
ReplyDeleteDid anyone ask her why she didn't want to do it, i think she is quite a shy girl and maybe feels under pressure but she has the talent to play third or skip and should be encouraged to do so as she will prove to be the backbone of the team. The men's team is all over the place and a lot of time needs to be spent seeing where it has gone wrong.
ReplyDeleteNicola didn't feel confident goin from lead to third but in few years time she will.
ReplyDeleteWho has qualified so far in glen parish?
ReplyDeleteIf these young players that are coming through in foyle why did eddie leave to go to donegal? Brittons are tje only good young bowlers in foyle.
ReplyDeleteBrittons aren't young they are both 30. Good enough bowlers but ryan, 2 nutts and austins are the future of the game. Need to try get young ones interested in bowls do coaching for them like nw
DeleteYoung kincaid and lynch r young enough to both under 25 and s, donnell along with the nutts austins and nixon there 8 young player and all good bowlers and gaining experiance every year? Foyles got enough coming threw need to get rid off the dead wood just ;)
DeleteOnly 30! thats a third of a bowlers career so still fairly young
DeleteWhat hope is there for the future of Foyle bowls when they have only 3 players in their Junior singles and indeed could not field a team last Saturday in the U18 Junior Zone Championships... Time Foyle took a look at the North West structure and the enthusiasm they have for bringing young talent through...
ReplyDeleteEx- Foyle player......
If anyone looks we have been bringing in young players over last few years and another couple could come in this year, its getting the balance and helping to bring the young players on,getting them into the practice games as part of a squad and building team spirit. There is so much gloom on here lets move onwards and upwards.
ReplyDeleteNicola is a good player, didn't get opportunities playing for donagheady but moving to glen pres was good move. Playing with people like lynn can only help her!
ReplyDeleteIs peter lynch going back to northwest
ReplyDeleteYes he is and will be along with Danny as well
ReplyDeleteDanny will never be foyle
ReplyDeleteHappy days they back at north west. Maybe now the people on this blog will stop going on about them.
ReplyDeleteWhen are national finals?
ReplyDeletePeter lynch has give up bowls.he didn't say why but the way he was treated by Foyle is obvious.so give the man a break and stop bringing his name up in this blog.
ReplyDeleteNa he has not he will be back next year
ReplyDeleteWe will see a new Foyle team next year new attitude new year and new goals watct this space
ReplyDelete
