I think that we will find it very hard this year as we are in the top half of the draw, we will need to play as good as we can in all games to stand even a slim chance, do we have the same players that we had last year as well or have we added a few
Is it true that we have lost the convenor? I was told yesterday he had packed it in, if it is true who is going to take it over? there must be some problem if we can not keep a convenor, 2 in 2 years now, we will be the laughing stock of the association if we are not careful, i hope that what i was told was wrong and Bill stays on, we need to carry on from last year as it was a great year in so many ways lets not slip back again, i hope this is allowed on as i think we all need to know where we are.
Do we even stand a hope this year rumours are that a lot of last years players will not be playing this year for one reason or another, not going to mention any names and i know that most will maybe have heard this anyway but why not wait to see who plays or not.
The convenor has resigned and as for a replacement, I dont know the answer to that one but I do know that we have a very tough section this year and we will need everyone on top form to progress through it, yes it will be another big ask but why not be positive, we can do it Foyle
i hear danny is not playing in zone this year.if not its a big loss.last year aganist northwest was danny swansong.man was awesome.final was awful without him an i mean atmosphers.
I feel that the zone committee made a valid decision and accepted Bill's resignation letter and declined his offer to then return as the Zone Convenor but taking a position like this you have to accept that certain things will go against you but for the betterment of the zone you stick at it, Bill in his two year term brought a special something to the Zone but truthfully had threaten to quit his position too many times. Bill have to accept his error and support the Zone as everyone have to stand up and back the zone and keep moving it forward. On a final note, most importantly and as shown last year the zone with not stand to be bullied by any individual or individuals and we will grow stronger as a zone.
I will try to respond to the previous post as diplomatically as i can, yes, in hindsight maybe the committe felt compelled to accept my resignation, however, let me correct you on a few things, firstly, my term was one year, not two and the reason i resigned was, apart from my reason given in my letter to the committee only, but to give them time to call an extra ordinary meeting and from that appoint another convenor, when i saw this was not going to happen, i mentioned that i would consider fulfilling my commitment, but that offer was not considered, my view only, i am proud of the time i spent last year as convenor and had planned to carry on for the forseeable future but my nature dictated otherwise, i would also like to point out that i am not bitter at the outcome, disillusioned maybe but not bitter, still think we have everything there to succeed and will support whoever takes the post, my personal decision to do this was outlined to the committee and i will not discuss this on an open forum, the zone needs support not resentment, heres hoping that we can keep the same spirit that we showed last year, we made a lot of people sit up and listen to what we can do.
Bill you question in your words 'NATURE' dictated your decision to resign from your position as zone convenor, absolutely rubbish. I resign myself from believing that, it has been clearly battered about the reason for you to quit and the committee have not kept this quiet because Bill the reason was pathetic if truth have to be told. This is a forum for the Foyle zone but we know you will hide the true reason and no one has backed you up Bill, so reason to stand up and be counted. You will give the zone 100% commitment i have no doubt and play a major part in moving the zone forward and back up the good work that you have put into the zone on your ONE year as our zone convenor. i truly believe that you will learn from your mistakes and when you become our zone convenor again you will truly do the position a great justices. If you can take one thing from all of this, back your best players, never try and dictate what they should do with their life.
OK.... were is the squad for the friendly against Donegal??????
I have known Bill long enough to know that his reason was sound, he in one year achieved more than we had in nearly 20, he led from the front and supported everyone and he showed great leadership when he called a meeting of the team on the eve of the final to sort out a big problem and the team benefitted from that, he cared enough to get us over that and he would have been there for a while to come doing the same thing, he does not have a selfish bone in his body and the zone will suffer now that he has gone from the post, he even changed the logo to the peace bridge to signify bringing people together so the committee need to look at what they have let happen and for the good of the zone, get him back before the season starts
was told about the usual shit going on here by john devine so decided to take a look.as usual people post an dont put their name to it.bill done a great job an was a big part of myself playing for foyle again, infact if not for bill i woud not av seen the campaign to the semi final.the man put his heart an soul into it an a few times we went for a bite to eat i told him to walk away as it is a no win situation being zone convenor. he woud not hear of it an he was a main part of myself playing.everyone knows why bill left, plain an simply he wants change an others didnt.enough said. the agm was a joke with some of the statements made an i was glad i was busy as id av walked out. as for myself i had a good last season playing for foyle an if im bein honest the victory over northwest was very sweet altho not beating my friend john devine.i had hoped foyle had moved on from all the shit but no chance of that an it has ruined the team spirit which in my opinion is nonrepairable. as for myself i will not be playing for foyle this season as will not some off my close friends. yours truely danny ward.
I think we should just get our act together and put our best team out and see if we can do it again, what did Billy do last year that we cant do this year, all we need is to play as a team, glad to see that this blog has started posting again, its the only way we have to show what we think
I dont think that comment is from Danny Ward and i know hat he will be playing this year because he has to prove last year was not a fluke and Bill shouldve stood strong and not let it get to this stage
What did bill give as his reason for resigning from convenor. Seems to be only committee members that knows but all players deserve to know whats going on
This is awful for foyle, every other zone has a convenor and teams being picked 2 days prior to match is unfair for boys that need to get off work. Donegal has had their team up over a week ago. Bring back bill whatever has happened he did a good job as convenor
In defence of the selectors, they had to wait until all the teams had returned the sheets with the names for consideration and that saves a lot of time and effort by putting names on of players that wish to play, not selecting and re selecting due to unavailability etc. We all have to shake this negative vibe off and put on our best show for the zone and for each other, my situation is not that critical nor is it reason for people walking away, I have my faults but I will still be there to support the team, selected or not, so guys, lets just get on with what we can do, play the game, maybe when the dust settles, for me anyway, things might take a good turn, who knows whats round the corner.
Bill it would be good to tell everyone what happened. The players needs to know why this so called atmosphere has been created and dust settles on what?
For the dust to settle on my decision, and that term was used in the wider context to also mean, after the season has finished and we all look back and reflect, nothing sinister of in depth meant to it, just a phrase. As for my reason, what bearing will that have on anyone??, I sent my reasons to the committee and that is the end of it as far as I am concerned, to bring it up on a public forum would be folly for me, can we just put it to bed once and for all, I have. PS It would be better if people put their names to posts.
The convenor represents the zone and the committee, which really makes it a superficial role almost, I see no reason for needing one other than for them to take the fallout after decisions. Bill did a great job, haven't a clue what his reasons are for resigning and to be honest I don't need to, one year would be one year too long if it was me ...
The Convenor is a major role in any zone and carries a lot of responsibility, so it's is vital that you have the right person in place to do it, so when the time comes to vote, we should put a bit of thought into who you want doing the job and what you as an individual and also as a collective team expect in return we usually just throw names at it to just get it done and away, maybe the answer is staring at us all in the face, we just need to open our eyes.
I think that we will find it very hard this year as we are in the top half of the draw, we will need to play as good as we can in all games to stand even a slim chance, do we have the same players that we had last year as well or have we added a few

ReplyDeleteI reckon it will be between armagh and oriel for the boomer. Best 2 zones in the country atm
ReplyDeleteWho is the new conveynor now, thought Billy was staying on after last year
ReplyDeleteFor the ladies team they need 2 new skips, perhaps giving younger ones a chance
ReplyDeleteI think our friends from north west will deal with oriel at home in 2nd round
ReplyDeleteOur friends in nw can always hope
ReplyDeleteWhich two ladies would you replace and why?
ReplyDeletei hear danny is not playing in zone this year.if not its a big loss.last year aganist northwest was danny swansong.man was awesome.final was awful without him an i mean atmosphers.

ReplyDeleteWhat did bill give as his reason for resigning from convenor. Seems to be only committee members that knows but all players deserve to know whats going on
ReplyDeleteI take the friendly is cancelled for Friday as no teams have been announced, if it's still on then it's pathetic organising
ReplyDeleteWho is the convenor now
ReplyDeleteWe do not have a convenor at the minute, the zone is being run by the committee.
